Carlos Alvarado is a 30-year resident of West Haven, CT. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was raised and educated in Connecticut. He holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport.
Carlos is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the infantry from 1983 to 1989. He is currently an active member of the New Haven Grays Veterans organization.
Carlos has a long history of volunteering in the local community. He has chaired and led numerous employee non-profit organizations within AT&T. He was Director of SNET Job Education Readiness Program; a member of the Counsel of Hispanic Managers of SNET; New Haven Chapter President and Regional East President of the Hispanic Association of Communications Employees of AT&T (HACEMOS). As an HACEMOS Leader, he was instrumental in raising $20,000 for scholarships. The scholarships went to Latino students accepted to a university. Carlos twice had the privilege to host the NETwork Leadership Night Out held in New Haven.
Carlos has also served as Head Coach for West Haven Youth Basketball and Soccer Leagues and Head Coach for St. Lawrence Girls Varsity Basketball.
In his spare time, he relaxes by going to the gym, take long walks, and simply spending quality time with family.
Carlos is running for State Senate because he is frustrated with the state’s lack of fiscal accountability and wants to help fix that through responsible budgeting and legislation.
